About this policy
This policy applies to https://www.deardelilah.app, operated by Dear Delilah, an Australian sole trader (ABN 86 673 034 061). It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
Questions about anything here can go to hello@deardelilah.app.
What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, and which your browser sends back on later visits. Related technologies do a similar job by different means: local storage and session storage keep values in your browser without sending them on every request, and small scripts can read details about your device and how you interact with a page.
We use all three kinds. Some are set by us, and some are set by third parties whose code runs on our pages.
There is currently no cookie banner
We want to be straightforward about this. Dear Delilah does not currently show a cookie consent banner, and we do not use a consent management platform. Analytics load when the page loads.
That means the way to opt out today is at the browser level, using the settings described further down this page, or by using a tracker blocking extension. We are working towards a consent control in the site itself, and this page will be updated when it exists.
Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to function. If you block them, sign in, the cart and checkout will stop working correctly. They do not track you across other websites.
Authentication session
Set by Clerk, our authentication provider, when you sign in. It identifies your signed in session so the dashboard, your wedding microsite editor and your order history load for you and not for someone else. It is removed when you sign out, and otherwise expires after a period of inactivity.
Shopping cart
Your cart contents are kept in your browser's local storage so that the items you add survive a page reload or a return visit later in the day. The cart stays on your device until you check out or clear it.
Currency preference
When you choose a display currency, that choice is stored in your browser so prices appear the same way the next time you visit. It is a single value and holds nothing that identifies you.
RSVP state on wedding microsites
When a guest submits an RSVP, the microsite records in that browser's local storage that an RSVP was submitted and whether it was an acceptance. This lets the invitation show a thank you rather than the form again, and decide whether to reveal the map and gift registry chapters. It stays on the guest's own device.
Security and delivery
Vercel, our hosting provider, may set short lived cookies used for load balancing and abuse protection.
Analytics
Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people actually use the site: which collections get browsed, where the personalisation form causes hesitation, and where pages break on particular devices.
Clarity sets its own cookies and uses local storage to recognise a returning browser and to group page views into a session. It records session replays, which are reconstructions of a visit showing mouse movement, scrolling, clicks and taps, and which pages were viewed and in what order. It also builds heatmaps that aggregate this behaviour across many visitors.
Clarity masks text input by default, so what you type into fields such as your name, email address or card details is not captured in a replay. Clarity is a Microsoft product and the data it collects is processed on Microsoft's systems under Microsoft's own privacy terms.
We use Clarity to improve the site. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell the data it produces.
Third party services that may set cookies
Some features rely on external services that may set their own cookies when their code or content loads:
- Stripe, during checkout, for payment processing and fraud prevention. Stripe's cookies are necessary for a card payment to complete safely.
- Clerk, for authentication as described above.
- Google Places API, when you search for a venue or address. Google may set cookies or read existing Google cookies when its script is called.
- Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces used across the site.
- Map tiles loaded on wedding microsites to render the venue map.
We do not run advertising or retargeting pixels, and we do not embed social media tracking scripts.
What we do not do
- We do not sell information gathered through cookies.
- We do not use cookies for advertising or retargeting.
- We do not use cookies to identify individual wedding guests to the couple beyond the RSVP they choose to submit.
- We do not attempt to track you across unrelated websites.
How to control or clear cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and site data. Clearing site data for deardelilah.app will sign you out, empty your cart, reset your currency preference, and remove any stored RSVP state.
Chrome
Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies to set a blocking rule, or Delete browsing data to clear what is already stored. To act on this site alone, open Settings, then Privacy and security, then Site settings, then View permissions and data stored across sites.
Safari
Safari, then Settings, then Privacy. Turn on Prevent cross-site tracking, or use Manage Website Data to remove data for a specific site. On iOS, go to Settings, then Apps, then Safari, then Clear History and Website Data.
Firefox
Settings, then Privacy and Security. Enhanced Tracking Protection set to Strict blocks most analytics and tracking scripts. Cookies and Site Data, then Manage Data lets you clear this site individually.
Edge
Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies and site data. Tracking prevention can be set to Strict under Settings, then Privacy, search, and services.
Blocking analytics specifically
If you want to keep the site fully working but stop Microsoft Clarity, a tracker blocking extension such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger will block the Clarity script while leaving the strictly necessary cookies in place. Browser settings such as Firefox's Strict protection or Safari's Prevent cross-site tracking have a similar effect. You can also use your browser's private or incognito mode, which discards all cookies and storage when the window is closed.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
There is no agreed standard for how websites should respond to Do Not Track headers, and we do not currently act on them. Some of the third party services listed above may honour Global Privacy Control signals under their own policies. Browser level blocking remains the most reliable way to refuse analytics on this site.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever we add, remove or change a technology described here, including when we introduce a consent control. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
